National Register of Historic Places, features crystal formations, historical exhibits,

- Saguaro National Park - The park, preserving saguaro cactus and
other Sonoran desert vegetation, occupies regions east and west of Tucson. The exotic

long as five years without water. Its unique blossom is Arizona's state flower. Hiking

- Amerind Foundation Museum - The museum near Dragoon, features a
collection of more than 25,000 Native American cultural items. An art gallery display

- Arizona Historical Society Museum - Located near the entrance to
the University of Arizona campus, the museum features exhibits illustrating state history
from Spanish colonial days to the present. It has an extensive Western history research

- Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum - The full spectrum of Sonoran Desert
life - from plants to reptiles and insects and from fish to birds and mammals - is on

- Biosphere 2 Centre - The airtight Biosphere 2 contains a tropical
rainforest, a savanna, a desert, and a human habitat where research is ongoing. Tours of

- Center for Creative Photography - The center, established on the
University of Arizona campus in 1975, displays works by both new and established
photographers. One of the premier facilities of its kind in the world, the center's
library maintains lifetime archives of renowned artists including Ansel Adams and Edward

- Davis-Monthan Air Force Base - The base is an Air Combat Command
installation and home to the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center, where more

Ettore "Ted" De Grazia, which includes oils, watercolors, castings, enamels,

- Flandrau Science Center and Planetarium - Located on the

- Fort Lowell Museum - The museum, in Old Fort Lowell Park, depicts

- Kitt Peak National Observatory - Some of the world's largest
telescopes can be found on Kitt Peak, and top scientists from around the world conduct
research at the state-of-the-art observatories here. Kitt Peak is open to the public
during business hours, and both guided and self-guided tours may be taken during those
hours. Stop by the Visitor Center for information. Place reservations to attend nighttime

- Old Tucson Studios - This famous film location has more than 300
movies and television productions to its credit. Now a theme park, it offers live-action
entertainment, gunfights, interactive educational shows, games, rides, and saloons. 201 S.

- Pima Air and Space Museum - At 100,000 square feet, Pima Air and
Space Museum is one of the world's largest aviation museums. Exhibits chronicle aviation
from the Wright Flyer to space vehicles, and displays more than 200 restored vintage

- Reid Park Zoo - Travel from the rain forest into the montane
(upland slopes beneath the timberline) to the savanna and then back to the rain forest.
The zoo's new South America Habitat Loop allows visitors to explore 11 habitats set in
three ecosystems. Species include spectacled bear, anteater, llama, waterfowl, rhea,
capybara, tapir, jaguar, dwarf caiman, piranha, and macaw. A lush aviary houses many South
American bird species. Each September, the Tucson Zoological Society hosts ZOOcson

- San Xavier del Bac Mission - Built between 1783-1797 by members of
the Fransiscan religious order, the mission is a historic landmark on the San Xavier
Indian Reservation. An active Tohono O'Odham parish church, the mission is known as the
"White Dove of the Desert." It also has been called the "Sistine Chapel of

- Sosa-Carrillo-Fremont House - This restored 1880's adobe house
stands in the Tucson Convention Center Complex. Once the home of the Sosa and Carillo
families, this Sonoran-style dwelling also was the residence of Territorial Governor John
C. Fremont. Special exhibits, events, and workshops are offered. During the holiday season

- Titan Missile Silo Museum - This facility, the worlds only Titan
II Intercontinental Ballistic Missile complex, is a National Historic Landmark. Tuesday

- Tohono Chul Park - This private park, whose name means
"desert corner", features ramadas, childrens gardens, a recirculating stream,

- Tombstone - Known as "the town too tough to die", this
National Historic Site includes the Bird Cage Theatre, Boothill graveyard, Camillus Fly
Studio, OK Corral, and Rose Tree Inn Museum. Exhibits at the Tombstone Courthouse State
Historic Park recall Arizona's history during the turbulent 1880's. 73 mi. southeast of

- Tubac - Ruins from the 1600's are preserved in Tubac, the oldest
European settlement in Arizona. Today the town is an internationally known art colony. 45

- Tucson Botanical Gardens - The facility includes cactus,
wildflower, and herb gardens, as well as a sensory garden, Native American crops, low

- Tucson Children's Museum - The museum, housed in the historic
Carnegie Library Building, offers hands-on exhibits that explore health, cultures,

- Tucson Museum of Art - The museum features permanent and changing
exhibits as well as contemporary works. The permanent collection includes pre-Columbian
artifacts, Western American art, and Spanish Colonial furnishings and paintings. 140 N.

- Tumacacori National Historical Park - The park preserves the ruins
of three Spanish Colonial missions: San Jose de Tumacacori, Los Santos Angeles de Guevavi,
and San Cayetano de Calabazas. Established near the turn of the 18th century by
Jesuit missionaries, Franciscans took over the missions in the early 1800s. Construction
of a new Tumacacori church begun at that time, but was never completed. The site also

- University of Arizona Mineral Museum - On display are 2,200
minerals, gemstones, and meteorites from around the world, with special emphasis on items
