INSTALLATION:

The Fultron (now known as Memphis) 16-EQP4 is fairly easy to hook up to an existing system. I am lucky to have a din and an half size cut out in the Suburban dash so I just got me the correct Metra® dash kit and Ed plopped it in there. Power, Ground, and Turn on leads are clearly marked so that aspect of the installation is a piece of cake for any car audio enthusiast that does there own work. The RCA inputs and outputs are on the back of the unit and it's as simple as plugging the RCA outs of your head unit to the Input RCA of your choice(two source input) on the 16-EQP4. The same goes with the connections to the amplifier of your choice. On top of everything else..... YOU DON'T HAVE TO REMOVE THE UNIT TO TWEAK THE SETTING!!! BRAVO FULTRON....err Memphis.

SETUP AND TWEAKING:

The 16-EQP4 can be allot fun to play with. With all those knobs and front panel center frequency adjusters (comes with supplied flat head screw driver) the user could lose hours of time tweaking their system. This eq also comes with a variable (50hz-240hz) Subwoofer crossover, so add about an extra hour of tweaking fun to the mix.

TOTAL IMPRESSION:

Overall this unit is very nice to work with especially if you like to tweak your sound on the fly (like I do, just ask Sancho, he hates it when I play with them knobs). I think this unit would make a great addition to anyone running those giant 30 band models, especially if you enjoy tweaking without leaving the drivers seat.

Sonically this unit is fairly transparent as long as you don't BOOST every eq knob to the max, EQ's weren't designed to ADD more power, but rather to help the listener taper the sound. If you want an EQ that ADDS more power, may I suggest the Pyramid EQ of your choice.

Another thing I noticed with this unit is that the 7 volt(MAX) output really helps my system a great deal, I thought the 3 volt outputs on my head unit was nice, boy, was I wrong. I can now have the input gains on my amps set to the minimum, which is nice for lowering the noise floor.

For a Street Price of around $US175.00 the Model 16-EQP4 is a great bang for the buck.
